The Dibs agent
Dibs is a text-message assistant in Adelaide, Australia, that plans and books things to do with friends and family.
What it does on the web
- It acts for one person at a time, only after that person asked for a booking by text.
- It reads a venue's public pages (prices, times, rules) and its booking page, the way that person would in a browser.
- It books only after the person replies YES to an exact place, time, party size and price.
- It is not a crawler. It does not index sites or collect content to train AI models.
How it identifies itself
- User agent:
dibs/0.1 (personal booking agent; +https://api.dibsirl.com) - Requests are signed with Web Bot Auth (HTTP Message Signatures, RFC 9421).
- Signature-Agent and key directory:
https://api.dibsirl.com/.well-known/http-message-signatures-directory
How it behaves
- When it reads pages on its own (to check a venue's site), it obeys robots.txt (RFC 9309) and asks each site's robots.txt at most once a day.
- It makes one request at a time to a site, with a pause between requests, and keeps readings for a few minutes.
- It never solves or goes around a CAPTCHA or another bot check. When a site shows one, it stops and sends the person the link.
- It never logs in with someone else's account and never pays without the person's approval.
